Was just sitting down and looking through my Dayre when I realised that I probably have a lot of backlog to catch up on this blog. Like I have not been blogging about all the little things that's been going on, well, that might be a good thing because otherwise, my blog would just be really just .... filled to the brim with boring details of my life.
Anyway, my graze box arrived last week and it was really good (as usual).
This week I got the Japanese Miso Soup, Super Berries (green raisins, cranberries, goji berries & blueberries), light lemon & poppy slice (with an afternoon tea infusion) & Bonnie wee Oatbakes.
My fav this time round was the Japanese Miso with Edamame ! I don't know if that's the Asian in my talking, but yea, it tasted really good ! I had it for breakfast along with the Edamame beans, a quick boost to start my day and for me to actually start working on my essay etc.
Everything in the this box tasted amazing though. And the afternoon tea infusion blend !!!! I love that so much ! I wish that they would have a box that's just bags and bags of tea ...
Speaking of my essay though ... It was a crazy ride. So we were supposed to write a 1500 words essay which is actually not that difficult if the essay title was something remotely easy to understand and find information on. But guess what was my essay title?
..........................................
"How did rodent models help us understand appetite regulation"
..........................................
That was basically my reaction when I saw my title because everyone else's either got 1) easy ones, or 2) interesting ones. For starters, everyone was dealing with human studies while I was just dealing with animal studies that I have absolutely no idea what to write on.
But when life throws a small rock in your way (or your tutor throws you an essay title that's a little not in your comfort zone or what you know), you just find a way to not trip.
And I was jolly stuck on that 200 words, rewriting drafts after drafts for a week before I finally gave up and asked for help from my tutor. And so .... she changed my title to "How did leptin-deficient mice help us understand food intake?"
Her words to me were :
"I gave you a harder essay title because from your coursework and the way you talk, you seem to know more about the mechanistic things than the others. But it appears to be a bit more difficult for you than I anticipated."
Okay, I am quite proud about that because it means that I actually appear knowledgeable to somebody, lol. And it was easier to write on, but of course, the moment my essay title got changed, I miraculously understood everything about my previous essay title and all the resources I had for the new title had more information for the other title than the one I actually needed.
Such is life.
But yeap, all done now ! The tutor will talk to us about it on Tuesday. I wonder what she would say about it. Praying that I could get a good grade since it's 50% of my module marks.
This was Caroline's lemon cheesecake which was baked in the same week of the Strawberry cheesecake. Both were soooooooo good ! But the first cheesecake's base was better though. This was a bit too crumbly. And Caroline baked more chocolate muffins and cookies after that. So there was one night where everyone was working in their rooms. And then Caroline decided to procrastinate by baking.
So when the muffins were ready, she sent out a message in the group chat and 5 of us plus Alex ended up gathered in the kitchen, chatting over chocolate muffins for a good 2 hours. Needless to say, no work was done after muffins. But they were so good though.
So yesterday, Nathan, Ivana, Sam, Caroline and I went into town to do some shopping and since we were back pretty late, we ordered Chinese instead. I had the awesome fried rice + wandering dragon which is lots of veg, mushrooms and roast duck. It was goooood !
Played another few rounds of Mau and it was hilarious as usual ! I love that game soooo much and Nat, the one who introduced the game to us, was so amused that I love the game that much. Sophie was a bit excited too and Ivana was just like, NO, I HATE THAT GAME, NO. It was so hilarious.
And today ....was just such a strange day. I wanted to be productive and do some revision but the only thing I did today was just washing my clothes, drying, baking and cooking. I didn't even put away my dried clothes -_- !
I started the morning by baking apple tarts and my flatmates loved it. Caroline said that I should just bake them everyday. But of course, it was quite ugly lol.
I loved it, but my mum's apple tarts will always be nicer than mine. And because of this, I am now looking at new baking stuff so I can make some tea cookies .... OTZ.
Dinner tonight was Oyako-don WHICH TASTED JUST LIKE HOW IT'S DONE BACK HOME. -cries- I HAVE SUCCEEDED. Omg, I was so happy to actually be good at something rofl. But I might have overcooked the eggs a little.
And talking about drying my clothes....
After washing them today, I dried them using the older machines since the ones with the display were in use. So I put in the 20p (1 20 p = 7 mins). I put in 4 of them so it was going to be dried for 28 mins. And ... after 28 mins ... it was still drying, so I went back to baking, thinking that I might have remembered wrongly. I did that a couple of times until I realised that it's definitely something wrong because my clothes were in there for 2 hours. THERE IS NO WAY I COULD HAVE USED SO MANY ?!
So I just opened the door to the dryer anyway and got my clothes out. Hopefully they are okay .... It did seem fine because my bras seemed to not be affected much. (I use bras as benchmarks).
