21 April 2015 - Things I should not be doing

It was supposed to be a productive week for both Caroline and I except that the productivity didn't happen. I was halfway doing my revision which was going no further when Caroline asked on 'I Made Cookies', our facebook groupchat, if we want to go geocaching.

Geocaching? What's that? So Caroline took it into her hands to unmuggle me. (Her words
It was a good day to be out. Sunny and warm. In fact, the outdoors is warmer than indoors. Who knows why I still bother staying indoors. Oh right, revision. So our hunting party proceeded outdoors.

So .... What is geocaching

Basically, the idea of geocaching is somewhat like a treasure hunt. Random people would hide random things in random places and then upload a description and a location onto a geocaching platform. And the thing is, while you are searching for the items, you are not supposed to get caught by people. So there's some kind of secrecy involved.

So we were armed with GPS, in Nathan's hands, and Caroline pointing out things to us. Nat was walking alongside me so once again, her face is not included in pictures.

I had thought it would be cold out so I wore my jumper which was a mistake because by the end of geocaching, I WAS BOILING. Yeap.

And we found a micro by the church ! So what we were supposed to do is, find the item, in it is usually a slip of paper so you could write the date and the names of whoever who found it. You could usually see who else came by. Apparently, someone did this particular geocaching route 3 days before we did.

There was one by the end of the bridge that we had to do later on because someone was by the bridge so we can't get caught, we could only move on.

It was a good day to be out. Caroline brought us to see horses as well, which is supposed to be in the picture above but obviously, I can't find it in the picture but it was there in the fields when I saw it.

Around the village we go and moo moos were there. I can't be bothered to edit the photos so dark, underexposed and overexposed pictures would have to do.

There were 2 that were quite hard to get. We didn't manage to find those 2.

Like, how were we supposed to find a lock n lock box in this wilderness. And not to mention, we were in the cemetery. Not the best to be uprooting things.

The other one was at a bus stop where we were supposed to put our hands into one of the corner where spiders and cobwebs lurk. We didn't have gloves and decided to call it a day after an hour and a half of geocaching.

It was a really good day to be out and about. One thing about searching in the trees by the bridge. Caroline said that we are lucky to be based on the biosciences campus because it wouldn't be that weird for us to be looking into bushes. We could always say that we are doing science things for our courses.

Of course, our actions didn't go unnoticed. The joggers passing by took a double take at us because of what we were doing.

While Caroline unmuggled me in terms of geocaching, Nat unmuggled me in the world of English games. We were walking down in the village, going to do some geocaching when we walked past this plain, inconspicuous plant and said to me, "Oh ! I'll show you something" and then she just reached into the bush and pulled this plant out and then just nonchalantly threw it at me and then....

IT STUCK ! LIKE A PAIN IN THE ASS ! It's natural velcro ! Apparently, Nat used to have sticky weed fights with her friends and siblings whenever they see this plant. It's called Sticky Weed/goose grass/sticky willy etc etc. Gardeners also called them velcro plant. This is so amazing and I ended up throwing it at Nathan and Caroline.

Apparently, it's a thing to quietly, sneakily, throw it at the back of someone and see if they notice. I am contemplating getting a stash of sticky weed and then throwing it at Max when he comes back. LOL. I had a few fails throwing the plant at Nathan because it stuck to the sleeves of my jumper when I was throwing it at him. -fail-
