It's crazy how it's already March but I feel like I haven't done anything since the year begun ! Well, Other than creating a new blog and working all out the kinks of the new templates, plus being a tad little more studious and getting more involved with the Student Food Co-op, I don't think I did much.
But yes, I thought to just post about my room. Or rather, my desk, since that's where I usually spend my time at. Oh ! And I just got myself a purple stuffed bunny yesterday. Sam named it 'flopsy' and the name kind of stuck so Flopsy it is ! Anyway:
I am on the ground floor so when my curtains are drawn, I practically don't have any privacy at all. And so there has been a few curious cases with people talking to me outside my window (they are usually drunk). There was once, these two girls came up to me and said that they always walk by my window and I am always on my laptop and look like I am hard at work and ask me to keep it up. Max also told me that some of the others told him that there's a girl in his flat that's always hard at work and he told them that I am always on tumblr. Which is not exactly true.
But I digress. So yea, Usually it's my laptop and my cloud mug from Cath Kidston, my mouse and some kind of food by my side. As well as some handcream, facial wipes and lip balm. I just got myself a blemish stick from Boots yesterday so that's a new addition as well !
And usually by the side of my laptop, I have my Electric Wax Tart Warmer(£24.99) from Yankee Candles to scent my room. Currently in it is the Apple Wreath that I bought during December. Then there's my handy Pikachu Nail Clippers that I've used since I was a kid. My black-framed glasses and the Sennheiser earphones that my second sister gifted to me 5 years back.
The mint green planner was given to me by my beloved friends from Poly before I left for the UK ! It was so sweet of them. And you can't see it here, but there's a stack of rough paper and some library books.
On the other side of my table, there's my printer and a whole ton of soaps. There's my BRITA water jug (approx. £16) that saved me. The thing that I couldn't get used to when I first came to the UK was the water. Where I am, we have hard water and it just doesn't taste nice. I couldn't take it and eventually bought my jug in January. I have to say, that's the best money ever spent. My second mug there is used for drinking tea and it's heavily abused by me. Then I have my paintbrushes at the back.
I can't say how much I love facial wipes. These were 2 for £1 from PRIMARK and they are absolutely wonderful. I get lazy in the morning and would just grab one of these and wipe my face before going to class. It's so handy that I have another stash that's on my bedside table.
Then there's the Frosted Fruits Handcream (£8) from Crabtree & Evelyn that I got in Oxford in December. Totally awesome. It smells good, doesn't feel sticky and works wonder on my abused hands.
The most important thing here is actually the lip balm. I naturally have very dry lips even though I drink tons of water a day (with my water jug, I can drink up to 3 or 4L of water a day). Even back in Singapore, I have a problem with my dry lips. There would be a period of time where my lips are so dry and cracked that they would bleed. The winter here is not helping matters along so I have to constantly use a lot of lipbalms. Therefore, I have it practically EVERYWHERE.
I have one by my bedside, one on the desk and one in my bag. Anyway, this lipbalm from Laboratoire du Dermophil indien was a gift from my eldest sister who got it from France while on her honeymoon. It's amazing and it's one of the best lipbalms I have ever used. It greatly improved my lips' condition and I can go without lip balms for a day or more without my lips threatening to crack and bleed.
My new investment this month is the Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish Stick (£2.59) from Boots. I just got to use it today. My skin is very prone to having blemishes so I thought that maybe I should give this a go since it's only £2.59. I like the scent of tea tree and when I felt my skin starting to itch, I quickly dabbed it on the spot and it stopped ! Instantly ! There was a slight stingy feel but it's not very painful or uncomfortable. So yeap. I think it's a keeper.
With all that out of the way, I have one thing that's very important to say. Graze is one of the greatest things I have ever, ever discovered ! Not kidding here. It's actually a delivery service where every week or fortnightly, you get a box of snacks posted to you. You could choose from a whole range of products such as:
I am currently on the Light Box and I absolutely love it. Not only that, you can also indicate your preferences as well as rate the snacks after you have tried them ! There's a lot of flexibility with Graze and you can view what kind of snacks that are available in the box. There's a 82 selections of snacks for people on the Light Box so there's surely something that you would like !
Don't like something and don't wish for it to be sent to you?
No worries ! You could just go to this page and press Bin ! So Graze would know that you didn't/don't like it and would not send this to you ! You could also take a look at the nutrition information for each snack and decide what you want ! The best part is, if you have something you are dying to try in your next box, just press the send soon button ! Simple !
An example here is the lightly salted popcorn that came in my most recent Graze box. [Which is the only one left because I usually finish the snacks in the box within a few days. Which is obviously not what I was meant to be doing, so I started rationing myself.]
The popcorn was lovely, though I would prefer it to be a little more saltier. There was a light dash of buttery taste and it's really nice to have it on a day where it's raining out there. (I am not ashamed to say that this made part of my lunch.)
If there is anyone who is interested in trying out Graze, you can use this promotion code below:
KELILA59P
WHY?
Using the code above means that you can try out your first box for free ! And if you like it enough to stay on, you get your 5th and 10th box free as well ! What' the best thing ! Free things ! If you decide that it's not your cup of tea, or your type of box, you could always cancel after you get your box !
